U.S. cities – the hot new technology marketplace

There’s a huge new marketplace emerging and it’s definitely worthy of watching.  The Internet of Things (IoT) is coming on strong…so strong, in fact, that the IoT marketplace is expected to exceed $130 billion by 2024. Here’s what the experts say to expect – by 2020 – IoT service offerings related to discrete manufacturing, transportation and logistics and utility industries.  In just these three areas, projections are that each will represent $40 billion in spending on platforms, systems and services.  That’s a big deal!

Contracting opportunities more abundant now at the local levels of government…a trend to watch!

Major cities throughout the U.S. are focused on urban redesign to create vibrant communities in downtown areas. Parks, trails, green spaces and community gathering places are all being constructed. Green infrastructure is also a high priority. Engineering design firms, construction contractors, landscaping companies and playground equipment suppliers are in high demand. Cities are also enhancing Wi-Fi access, moving to IoT (Internet of Things) technology and launching renewable energy projects. Funds for these types of projects are coming from various sources and as a result, lots of attention is now focused on what’s happening at the local levels of government.
