Warwick, Rhode Island: Barton Corner Bridge Replacement

In August 2014 we completed replacement of the Barton Corner Bridge, which carries four lanes of I-95 plus two auxiliary lanes at a busy interchange with Route 2 on the Warwick/West Warwick line. Using accelerated bridge construction, we built two halves of the bridge on land adjacent to the overpass, and then moved them into place. This enabled us to build the bridge much faster compared with conventional construction methods, which would have taken twice the time. This approach also allowed us to do the work with no impact to Interstate traffic prior to installation.

Pennsylvania Turnpike: Culvert Jacking to Minimize Traffic Effects

Thursday, March 27th, 2014

This culvert jacking was part of Section B (Mainline Toll Plaza in Bensalem) for the Pennsylvania Turnpike / I-95 Interchange Project. The jacking occurred below I-276 as traffic flowed from the above highway, minimizing impacts to traffic. Urban Engineers (www.urbanengineers.com) is providing Construction Management for this project.

THE ROAD INFORMATION PROGRAM
The most needed surface transportation improvements in Virginia include 36 projects to build, expand or modernize highways, six projects to improve public transit and eight projects to improve the state’s rail system. These improvements would enhance economic development opportunities throughout the state by increasing mobility and freight movement, easing congestion and making Virginia an attractive place to live, visit and do business.
