Rails to Trails: Forging Linear Parks for All

Posted by Content Coordinator on Thursday, August 30th, 2012

Today’s cities increasingly need to look at alternative solutions to find more green space. So organizations such as the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, the PATH Foundation and the City Parks Alliance are looking at unused infrastructures as opportunities to build new parks. So-called linear parks are much longer than wide and are formed as part of a rails-to-trails conversion of railroad beds to recreational use. And they are great for a nice walk.  Linear parks have become part of the landscape in urban and rural areas; they connect neighborhoods to each other, get people out of their cars and encourage healthier lifestyles. Take a stroll down some of the nation’s best linear parks. – on YouTube.
