Illinois: Elephants Crossing the Bob Michel Bridge

Posted by Infra on Friday, September 23rd, 2011

Here at IDOT we help with any number of tasks, including providing traffic control so elephants can walk across a bridge!

The elephants from Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey needed to cross the Bob Michel Bridge over the Illinois River the morning of Tuesday, September 20th to make it to their upcoming show in Peoria. We joined local police agencies to help them make the journey safely by temporarily stopping traffic on the bridge.

They made it across in 15 minutes. – IllinoisDOT on YouTube
