Corrosion Prevention: Vital to Reinforcing Our Nation’s Infrastructure

Posted by Infra on Thursday, August 13th, 2015

The average bridge has a designed lifespan of 50 years. There are over 610,000 bridges in the United States with a current average age of 43 years and the clock is ticking to invest in and maintain our infrastructure to keep America moving on structurally sound bridges.

Unfortunately, we are falling behind as there are already 1,500 miles of bridges with an average age of 65 years. They have been deemed to be “structurally deficient” and require maintenance and/or repair.

What’s causing this crisis? Corrosion. Watch this video to learn more about what we’re facing and what we need to do about a problem that could cost this country billions of dollars.
