Anadarko is among the most active particpants in FracFocus.org, an online, public registry where oil and natural gas companies provide the ingredients used in hydraulic fracturing. Hydraulic fracturing is the process of injecting a solution of mainly water and sand more than a mile underground into oil or natural gas-bearing formations. The pressure opens pathways for the resource to flow into the wellbore, and the sand props opens the pathways. Additives make up a very small percentage of the total volume and are used to enhance the effectiveness of the process. Fracfocus.org was developed by the Ground Water Protection Council (GWPC) and Interstate Oil & Gas Compact Commission (IOGCC) in an effort to enhance transparency with regard to hydraulic fracturing technology, which is essential in producing domestic energy.

For more information on the Best Management Practices implmented by Anadarko to protect groundwater, including multiple layers of steel pipe and cement, pressure testing and flowback management, visit www.anadarko.com, and select the U.S. Natural Gas Opportunity tab under Operations.
